Biography

Peter Main is a highly skilled and accomplished leather designer, artist, and craftsman with over fifty years of experience in the field.

Based in Sydney, Australia, Peter is self-taught and has developed a distinctive style characterized by intricate carving, embossing, and coloring techniques. This has earned him a reputation for producing exceptional and innovative works of art that have garnered international acclaim.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Peter is also a master in construction, case making, hand sewing, fine binding, and the creation of delicate jewellery and flowers.

After retiring from his successful graphic design studio in 1995, Peter has continued to exhibit and publish his work, as well as travel and teach his craft around the world, including in the United States, Japan, England, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and Norway. He has published five instructional books on leather carving, the first of which, "Australian Leather Carving," was released in 1997.
